This is a blog about folkies and folkie issues
(although I could easily write one on travel experiences as well – if you notice the Arizona theme, I’ve been there four times and I really want to go to Monument Valley next. That’s Monument Valley in the image above).
I’ve been a folk music radio host on CKCU 93.1 FM Ottawa since 2002 on Window of Opportunity, and on CKDJ 107-9’s Stoke the Folk since Fall 2010.
I’ve also guest hosted and co-hosted on Chopper McKinnon’s Canadian Spaces – one of the most well-known folk shows in Canada. It was fun working with Chopper.
From September – December 2011, I have hosted Stoke the Folk with Rob Prevost Mondays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern (http://www.ckdj.net). Matt Frankie Francis joined us on November 7th. Rachel Reed was to join us, but she has been on sick leave. My husband Tony is hosting Window of Opportunity Fridays at 3 pm Eastern while I focus on studies (http://www.ckcufm.com). I’ve also hosted on CKCU’s Over My Head since October 2001.
I’ve been an emcee at the Ottawa Folk Festival, Winterfolk festival and individual shows.
I love folk music and always will. I may play other genres on the radio. Some of them I love, but I’m still a folkie at heart.
Yours in folk,
